Copernicus Space Component - Provision of a Pan-European VHR 2018 satellite image coverage
European Commission & European Environment Agency – Copernicus Space Component - Provision of a Pan-European VHR 2018 satellite image coverage
As part of the Copernicus activities, the EC and ESA have awarded a contract to an Airbus-led consortium for the provision of a 2018 Very High Resolution (VHR 2018) satellite image coverage of Europe. As part of the contract, six million square kilometres over 39 countries will be covered in 2018 with freshly acquired very high-resolution optical satellite imagery. The VHR2018 image data set will be the base for calibration and validation of a series of Copernicus products.
In the consortium, space4environment is responsible for quality controlling the acquired image data to ensure the delivery of optimal quality EO data to the EC and the European service industry for calibration, production and validation of the 2018 Copernicus “Land” products.
The VHR images will be freely available to institutional users on European and national level. All Copernicus products and images are available from the Copernicus website: https://land.copernicus.eu/
Project partners: space4environment (LU), Airbus (FR), Planet (DE), Deimos (ES), IGN (FR)
Project clients: European Commission, European Environment Agency
Project funding: European Space Agency
